Minting Operations Start at Moffatt & Co.
|
Eureka Springs, AR ~ January 4, 2008 ~ Moffatt & Co. is pleased to announce the beginning of minting operations at their plant near Eureka Springs, AR. Moffatt & Co. has acquired and installed several high speed Schuler coining presses with an initial capacity of well over 1 million pieces per week. Moffatt & Co. has also acquired an automatic multi-stroke HME coining press with a capacity of up to 1.75” (44.5mm) diameter in proof like finishes. A limited product line including silver rounds, club medals, and other small runs are available immediately with full production beginning in early February. Initial token offerings are for .900, .984, and 1.125 sizes in alloy 260 (golden brass). Other sizes and alloys will be added to the product line soon. Pre orders are being accepted for tokens with delivery beginning in mid February.
Moffatt & Co was formed in October ’07 with the intent to provide high quality custom tokens and medallions at low prices.
While the company is new, the operating partners, Sean Moffatt and Timothy Grat have decades of experience in the minting trade.
Sean was the Operations Manager for a large private mint for 19 years until the company was sold and several months later the new owners relocated production while retaining none of the experienced staff. Sean has been actively involved in numismatics for over 35 years. Sean has attended several Mint Directors Conferences and numerous industry events and is deeply networked in the minting trade.
Timothy was Chief coiner for Gallery Mint for 10 years until the company was shut down in late ’06 mainly due to the passing of one of the owners. Timothy has been actively involved in numismatics for about 10 years. Timothy has demonstrated minting techniques at numerous numismatic events and seminars.
The combination of these two unique skill sets has prepared Moffatt & Co. enter into the mainstream token and coin markets as well as the high end esoteric numismatic collectables markets as experienced and serious competitors. Moffatt & Company’s high speed equipment, low overhead, and central US location in NW Arkansas allows them to compete both nationally and globally for coining contracts.
